Ansh Theatre Group, initiated in the year 1993 by Shri Makrand Deshpande, renowned Theatre and Bollywood Personality. Ansh has performed over 50 Plays, written and directed by Mr. Deshpande himself and have always seen packed audiences.
Over the past two decades, Ansh has become a brand of its own for plays of mythology to magical realism with a distinct craft of theatre. Shri. Deshpande’s out of the box thinking has attracted various well knows artists like Anurag Kshyap, Mita Vashisht, Ratna Patak Shah, Sudhir Menon, Vishal Bharadwaj, Nitin Chandrakant Desai, Shailendra Barve and the very own, Teddy Maurya & The Maurya Brothers to name a few. A special mention to KayKay Menon who was a part of the foundation of Ansh Theatre.
Shri Makrand Deshpande is a well known & extremely sought after, Bollywood and Theatre personality, having performed some very pivotal roles in Bollywood films such as Jungle, Sarfarosh, Darna Zaroori hai and many more. He is also a Director, Writer and Actor having worked in other regional language films such as Kannada, Telegu, Malayalam & Marathi. His passion however always leaned towards Theatre, where he has written, directed and performed in a combination of 50 Short Plays and 40 Full Length Plays.
His theatre group, Ansh Theatre, has earned itself much repute having attracted many prominent personalities such as Anurag Kashyap, Ratna Pathak Shah, Mita Vashisht and Nitin Chandrakant Desai to name a few. Some of his ever popular work includes plays such as Sir Sir Sarla, Joke, Maa In Transit and the recent Marathi play Shakespearcha Mahatara. All these plays open to full houses, almost always, not only in the country but in most of the International shows as well. His innate creativity, understanding and ability to relate to the emotions and sentiments of audiences has only increased his popularity with each show performed.
